ABOUT THIS PROJECT category: Inventions

The Pitch

I am Robert L Caperton Jr. I am an Inventor and Innovator in Orlando Florida. I invented a new hinging device from necessity that has proven to be more useful and dynamic with every turn. The Access Hinge. The initial problem was the tonneau cover on the back of my truck which only allowed for unrestricted access from the rear of the truck so I designed a system that allows for each side of the truck bed to hinge open independent of the others while not restricting access to any of the other parts. Viola... The Access Hinge!

For size and demonstration purposes I started with the Utility Truck Toolbox for the back of a truck bed. As it stands you can choose either the standard opening toolbox or the gull-wing toolbox. Installing the Access Hinge will allow 1 box both functions thus eliminating the restrictions that come with either choice...

Impact

I believe as a community effort we can make the Access Hinge a National Icon and open doors to unimaginable possibilities. With plans to make Orlando HQ for the Access Hinge we will offer hundreds of new jobs by bringing a new industry to not only the Orlando area but also to the (areas) of the companies that license the Access Hinge and the additional material, equipment, manufacturing, shipping and the people required to fulfill their demands.

What We Need & What You Get

I am requesting an amount of $12,000.00 for the purposes including but not limited to: Organizing an LLC, registering a domain name and building a website w/ hosting, applying for additional provisional patents, registering multiple product trademarks, CAD drawing(s), advanced prototype(s), and a workshop with officespace for a 7 month period. This 7 month time frame will allow for the design of a bathroom product featuring the Access Hinge, packaging for said product, and all necessary requirements the for submission request to have the product featured on QVC.

A Downtown Orlando, FL location will allow me the High-Profile location to gain community and public awareness with video demonstrations uploaded to YouTube with Google-Ready tablets and phones.

I believe this aggressive marketing approach will gain additional funding, sponsorships and investments but the main focus is to gain community involvement with local demonstrations in Orlando's High Profile areas such as Tractor Supply Company, Home Depot, Lowe's, Ikea, Sears, Rollins College, UCF, Valencia, etc.

Pledges

After all these years of procrastination and self-doubt I finally listened to myself and made what I saw in my head. I "DID IT"! Well.... The blue box you've seen was basically a gift from Thomas T Burnett at Florida Metal Craft, Inc in Winter Garden FL. When I showed him the original (Milk crate) hinge, Thomas, his brother and business partner Bob, and Teresa, Thomas' wife, who have been in the business for 35+ years, "Loved it!" and opened the doors to their business to me (normally charging $50.00 hr shop fee), gave me the material to make it and the cuts to shape it, countless hours of free labor to put it together and the encouragement a family would give to a son. Wow...right!? I want to build a relationship with you like the relationship I have with Thomas and his family. I won't ask for your money...but your support is another thing altogether.

I need your Likes, Views, and Comments. I need it all! I am reconnecting with my Facebook account and starting a few others to make sure I get your comments or whatever it is you want to say. The submission of this project will mark the first step of this journey and I will update YouTube regularly to keep it exciting. All you have to do is check me out....

I will get the money I am requesting even if I must knock on 12,000 doors to get it....and that really IS the plan. Not reaching the $12,000.00 mark in 45 days is of little concern because there is no end to my commitment. I am sure I can get a lot of things (on my list) I need from the people I meet along the way as sponsors and write-offs. I will make it.

Don't forget Fundageek. Fundageek is awesome because they have given me a guide to follow that lead me to this spot. Without Fundageek I would still be spinning my wheels so I want to say: "Thank You Cary and Dan for all of your help."

What's Next

As mentioned earlier I will look deeper into the QVC program. Minimum order requirement is $30,000.00 and the product must be prepackaged and in QVC warehouses prepared for individual shipping. Having a friend at Florida Metal Craft Inc gives me incredible buying power and great contacts to manufacturers and packaging specialists that can make this remotely possible. QVC would be an excellent benchmark to judge the projected success of the Access Hinge. Or at least that is something that ABC's Sharks have been saying.

The beginning is the forming of the business, registering the names, building a website, the proto-types and a place to make it happen.

Hope to connect with you on this journey.

Thanks for your time

Sincerely, Robert L Caperton Jr
