We need your help! Our goal is to build a fully accessible park where we can ALL play baseball together. The complex will include a custom-designed field with a cushioned rubberized surface to help prevent injuries, wheelchair accessible dugouts, and a completely flat surface to eliminate any barriers to wheelchair-bound or visually impaired players. The Miracle League field will accommodate baseball games, T-ball, basketball, Top Soccer and even adult whiffle ball for people of all abilities. A family Americans with Disabilities Act-friendly bathroom is also in the plans, along with fully accessible bleachers and picnic tables.
The thrill of playing, the cheers from the stands, and the friendships they develop make the Miracle League Field an oasis away from their everyday battles. One umpire describes this as the only league where no one ever gets mad.
“Buddies” assist Miracle League players. These buddies are mainstream children who play baseball, youth church groups, boys and girls scouts to mention a few. As a result the parents, children and volunteers are all brought together – special needs and mainstream alike-in a program, which serves them all through service to children with special needs. The program is opened to children from any community.
The rules are simple.
* Every player bats once each inning
* All players are safe on the bases
* Every player scores a run before the inning is over (last one up gets a home run)
* Each team and each player wins every game
There are 250 Miracle League organizations across the country but the nearest to our desert communities is in Orange and San Diego counties, too far for local special needs youth and young adults with physical or mental disabilities to use conveniently. This will be the first Miracle League Field built in San Bernardino or Riverside counties. Youth, ages 7 – 17, will come from over 1,300 special needs youth in the Morongo Unified School District and other special needs youth from desert communities within a one-hour drive of Yucca Valley. Already, Miracle League of the Desert has received formal requests to use the field from Special Olympics and other volunteers in Victorville and Palm Springs. Some programs for special needs adults will also be provided.

What We Need Right Now
What we are hoping for with this FundaGeek project is to raise the funds for the spectator and player bleachers. The cost for 5 row bleachers with 4 handicapped spaces is $6700.00 so we need your help. These standard ADA Bleachers are an economical solution to include integrated handicap seats in our bleachers. Designed with several features that eliminate the need for vertical aisles and handrails, they meet our building and safety code requirements.
* All aluminum construction for frame, seat, and foot planks
* 2" x 12" seat planks (typical bleachers have 10" wide seat planks)
* 2" x 10" single foot planks
* First row seat is 12" high (typical bleachers have 17" high first row)
* Rise between rows is 6" (typical bleachers have an 8" rise between rows)
* Depth of 5-row is 9'-6"
* Guardrail system on 5-row bleachers is chain link or vertical picket

If, through all of your help, we manage to exceed our goal amount, that would be wonderful since we plan on having 3 bleachers in all and funds over the goal amount will go toward the additional bleachers.
